polyuria, polydipsia, SOB
What is the PE for diabetic Ketoacidosis?
Ketotic odor “Fruity”
Dry mucous membrane (dehydrated)

Arterial blood Gas, venous blood gas
What is cellulitis?
infection of the skin
What is the CC for Cellulitis?
Red, swollen, painful area of the skin
What is the PE for cellulitis?
Edema, erythema, induration (hardening of the skin)
How is Cellulitis treated and dx?
Treated with abx and dx clinically
What is abscess?
Infection of the skin characterized by pus collected under the skin.

Causes an immune response that causes inflammation

SOB

What is the PE of an allergic reaction?
- Edema
- Angioedema
- Urticaria (hives)
How is an allergic reaction DX?

What is an adverse reaction?
side effects caused by a medication or procedure.

What is the CC for an adverse reaction?
- Constipation
- Dry mouth
- N/V/D
What is Extremity Injury ?
• Trauma that cause pain/swelling to extrem-ities.

- Bruising
- Deformity
- Limited use

- Ecchymosis (Blood/bleeding under skin)

- Pharyngeal Erythema
- Tonsillar Hypertrophy (Enlargement)

What is Sepsis?
• Immune system causing inflammation in the blood that stems from a primary infection
Who is at risk of getting sepsis?
- Current infection: viral, bacterial or fungal
- Open wound
- IVC or breathing tube

- Fever

- Tachycardia
- Hypotension
- Febrile
- Discoloration of skin

blood culture, lactate acid and CBC (complete blood count)
What is DVT ?
• Clot in the low extremities causing decreases blood flow.

- FHx of DVT

- Swelling and pain in lower extremity
* Atraumatic and unilat-eral

Ultra sound/ doppler of the extremity

• Tear in the muscular membrane of the heart ar-tery causing rupture/death.
What is the CC for aortic dissection ?
• Chest/Abd pain radiating to the back

Hypotension

• Lower ab-dominal pain (RLQ or LLQ)

• Testicular tender-ness/swelling of the right or left testicle
