What are the three counseling approaches?
Directive, non-directive, and eclectic
Directive counseling
Counselor-center; focused on a diagnosis and treatment. Traditional approach. Not effective with emotions
Classic example of directive counseling
Doctor/patient relationship
Non-directive counseling
Counselee centered, a lot of feelings. Problems are not actually solved, they just feel better about them.
Eclectic counseling
Combination of directive and non-directive. Flexible. Cooperation/responsibility with both parties

Responding
Guiding
What is entailed within responding?
Questioning, summarizing, interpreting, informing, confronting
What is entailed within guiding?
Adding structure and organization to help subordinate reach their own solution

Outlines the role of government organization and employees; applies to civilians
Title 10
Outlines the role of the armed forces; active duty, AFR, and federal ANG
Title 32
Role of USNG, non-federalized status
What makes a rule enforceable?
When it is outlined in the UCMJ, customs and courtesies, or good order and discipline
