The first purpose: Fact, identity, cause, where and when, circumstances.
The second purpose: Make recommendations or comments that if drawn to the public will reduce similar circumstances arising again.
Third purpose: Determine whether the public interested by another investigating authority investigating the situation.
Who has authority over who is present at during a post-mortem?
The coroner has authority.
What does a post-mortem do?
A post mortem is an examination of a person’s body to determine the cause of death. A post-mortem is authorised by the coroner who directs the pathologist to perform the examination.
