Wellbeing
The degree of satisfaction that an individual or group experience when their needs are met.
ACRONYM: SPEECS (social, physical, emotional, economic, cultural, spiritual)
Specific Needs
six specific needs with the ultimate aim at achieving wellbeing. ACRONYM: SHESEA (safety and security, health, education, sense of identity, employment, adequate standard of living)
Research
A set of formally prepared questions that seek information on a person’s knowledge or beliefs.
Reliability
It has consistency, something tested again under the same conditions, producing the same results.
Validity
Accurately reflects what it was intended to measure
Respect
(PRIB) An ethical consideration in which individuals have a right to be respected and treated fairly.
Privacy
(PRIB) A right individuals have in which they are assured confidentiality and anonymity.
Integrity
(PRIB) Not changing, modifying or suppressing research, maintaining full honesty.
Case Study
A research method which further deepens understanding of a particular research topic.
Literature Review
A secondary research method involving evaluation and search of existing knowledge of a particular topic.
Conducting research
APART OF the research process (PCI) - (((CAD)… collecting and recording data, accessing sources of data, documenting actions and issues (in project diary).
Interpreting research

Prevalence
Refers to the statistics (%) of the population.. for Example: 18% of Australian’s have a Disability
Diversity
The gender and culture make shift of a certain community or group…
Example: 92% female youth are enrolled in tertiary education while only 62% of boys are enrolled.. (gender)
Terminology
Positive or negative terms used to describe the group as a whole or may confined individuals to a group.
Equity
Fairness and having equal opportunity to access resources and services.
Advocacy
Speaking up or drawing attention to specific needs and concerns.. working with organisations and people to help make a difference.
Promoting
Encouraging or providing.
Contribution
To contribute to something.
Disability
((The United Nations Article 2006)) People with disabilities include those who have long-term, physical, intellectual, psychological or sensory impairments which restrict their participation in everyday life.
Youth
((The United Nations, 2014)) Youth is a person aged 15-24.
GLBTI
The Gay, Lesbian Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex community.
Homeless
((The Department of Health, 2005)) Individuals inadequate access to safe and secure housing.
Data
Can be Primary or Secondary data… is obtained through research.
Sample Size
The number of participants included in the research
Sample Method
The method in which data is collected. (SSSCC - simple random, stratified, systematic, cluster, convivence sampling…)
