What are the legal requirements for schedule 2 and 3 CDs on a prescription?
- Written in ink (if not electronic)
- Signed by person issuing it with signature
- If issued by dentist, must say ‘For dental treatment only’

28 days for schedule 2, 3 and 4.

What happens when there is an owing for the patient?
Supply what we have and create an owing for the remainder. However, the patient must come back within the validity of the prescription to collect the remainder. After that date, supply is illegal and they will require a new prescription.
Is it good practice or a legal requirement that a prescription for schedule 2, 3 and 4 should not exceed a 30 days supply?

- It must be written in ink to correct mistake or add quantity in words or figures.
- The change must be marked with the pharmacists name, date, signature, and GPhC number.

It is a legal requirement for Schedule 2 drugs but good practice for Schedule 3.
Who should sign the collection part of a prescription for a Schedule 2 drug if the medication is being delivered?
The delivery driver, however, there must be another process to confirm that the patient has received the CD.
