A
  • Pancreas secretes insulin
  • Insulin causes glucose to move from blood into cells
  • Insulin causes excess glucose in the liver and muscle cells to convert to glycogen for storage

A
  • Pancreas secretes hormone GLUCAGON

- Glucagon causes GLYCOGEN to be converted into glucose and released back into the blood

A
  • Pancreas fails to produce enough insulin
  • So blood glucose levels are very high
  • Normally treated with insulin injections
