Control and Communication Flashcards
What is meant by the tearm coordination?
When the tissues and organs of multicellular organism are specialised to perform particular functions but they do not operate independently.
What 2 systems are required to control and communicate?
The nervous system
The endocrine system
What does the The Nervous System consist of?
The Brain
The Spinal Cord
The Peripheral Nerves
Whats the function of The Brain?
Controls the whole body and co-ordinates all nerve impluses.
Function of The Spinal Cord?
Relays nerve impulses between the nerves and the brain, controls reflexes.
Function of The Nerves?
Carries impulses to and from the muscles and the body organs.
What are the parts of that brain?
Cerebrum
Cerebellum
Medulla
Function of Cerebrum?
Control of conscious decisions , its also the location of your personality and memory.
Function of Cerebellum?
Controls balance and coordinates the movement of muscles.
Function of Medulla?
Breathing rate and heart rate
What are our Receptors?
Our sense organs
INFO (TURN THE CARD)
Sensory nerves -> Inter nerves -> Motor nerves
What are Sensory Neurons?
Nerves that transmit impulses from the sensory organs to the CNS.
What are Inter Neurons?
Neurons found within the CNS and transfer impulses between the other neurons.
What are Motor Neurons?
They transmit impulses from the CNS to effectors (like muscles).
