Meaning:
The author writes his inability to come up with material to write about. At night he experiences a surreal world, his reality/dreams blend together in one work of poetry. Ironic that when he finds nothing to write about, he writes about his inability to write.

First/Second Stanza
Set the scene of the poem and the main ideas, of him suffering from writers block and insomnia.
Third Stanza
Goes outside for universe to give him ideas. ‘Privets’ act as a barrier and ‘washed-out’ signifies his lack of ideas.
Stanza Four
Doesn’t really know ‘query’, ‘something’, perhaps still writing the poem. Universe opposing him ‘adversary’
Stanza Five
Constant dwelling on problem of not being able to sleep and suffering from a lack of imagination/writers block.
Stanza Six/Seven
Change into third person also with next stanza. ‘Demiurge’ illusive and uncontrollable. Creeps back into the house.
