Who did Henry marry and why was this significant?
Elizabeth of York - she was the daughter of Edward IV, so by marrying her Henry was uniting the York and Lancastrian lines. This would make his son the undisputed heir.

Edward, Earl of Warwick - son of George, Duke of Clarence, so Yorkist threat.
To which date did Henry backdate his reign and why was this significant?
21st August 1485 (Bosworth was 22nd) - this meant that Henry could accuse those who fought for Richard III of treason (through acts of attainder)
What was an act of attainder?
Act of Parliament that formally declared someone guilty of treason, removing their lands and titles.
When was Henry’s coronation and why was this significant?
30th of October 1485 - before his first Parliament to show that his authority came from birthright and conquest, not Parliament
When did Henry marry/crown Elizabeth of York and why was this significant?
Married her 18th January 1486 and she was not crowned until the 25th November 1486 to show that Henry’s authority did not derive from her Yorkist links.
When was Prince Arthur born and why was this significant?
19/20th September 1486 - established Henry’s Tudor dynasty. Arthur was heir to the Yorkist and Lancastrian lines, so his birth effectively marked the end of the Wars of the Roses.
When was Henry’s first Parliament and what was discussed?
7th November - 28 acts of attainder passed against Yorkists, Henry granted tonnage and poundage for life
(First Parliament AFTER his coronation - shows he wanted to establish his authority over Parliament)
