Conduction & Convection Flashcards
What is the First point of Conduction?
Heat energy causes close particles to gain kinetic energy and to start to vibrate more about fixed position.
What is the Second point of Conduction?
A temperature difference is set-up in the bar. As this increases the particles vibrate more and start to collide causing them to vibrate.
What is the Third point of Conduction?
Electrons are locked out of the outer shell & become ‘free electrons’ - these carry heat.
What is the Fourth point of Conduction?
This effect increases & a net heat flow occurs along the bar until & thermal equilibrium is reached.
What does Warm Air rise?
Less dense so warm water rises
What does Cold Air fall
More dense so Cool water falls
