AC Generator Flashcards
1
Q
What does AC stand for?
A
Alternating Current (All generators produce AC)
2
Q
How do AC Generators form?
A
If a coil of wire us rotated inside a magnetic field, then a voltage is induced within, as the coil ‘Cuts’ the field lines. This voltage can be applied to a circuit to produce a current.
3
Q
How do you generate high voltages?
A
We need the coil to cut more field lines per second.
- Increase the Speed the Coil Rotates
- Increase the Strength of Magnetic Field
- Increase the Number of Turns of Wire on the Coil
4
Q
What does an AC generator produce?
A
A voltage (Current) which reverses every half turn
