it has been decreasing and aging
Why is there a shift in racial composition of the US? (immigration specific)
immigrants used to be mainly white, older, and European; after 1965 w/ removal of quotas more Asian and Latin Americans came and diversified the population

It is due to both, but more significantly natural increase esp since the Hispanic population is overall young

White citizens are aging at a faster rate than other races, contributing less; foreign born population comprises a larger part of the work force and through taxes contributes to the aging white population

much of it has to do with labor in the agricultural fields which are more congregated in rural areas (like meatpacking); segmented labor theory
