2nd gen advantage
children of immigrants seem to do better, on average, compared to native born members of their racial group and their parents’ generation

percentage of people in an immigrant group that have a college degree; immigrants are more likely to have graduated from college than nonmigrants in sending countries and the host population in the United States

collective resource derived from shared language and culture
specifics about ethnic captial
strengthened by hyperselectivity, often occur in coethnic communities, not accessible to out group members
Effects of being undocumented
enforcement in the interior (deportation), “suddenly single” mothers, trauma, PTSD, avoidance of interactions with institutions
