When does Medical Screening occur?
Starts at Step 1- but really should incorporate throughout entire appointment.
When should you provide medical screening?
Always provide medical screening no matter how long you have been seeing the patient
What is direct access?
The right of the public to obtain evaluation and intervention from a licensed PT without previous examination by, or referral from, a physician, gatekeeper, or other practitioner.

Recognition of disease/ disorder usually via a collection of relevant signs and symptoms.
What is Differential Diagnosis?
Systematic method to identify the cause (MSK or non-MSK) of a patient’s symptoms
What is Prognosis?
Predicted optimal level of improvement in function taking in consideration of comorbidities, motivation, psychosocial factors, patient values goals
What is Constitutional Signs?
General signs/ symptoms that are present when illness is present
What is the primary objective of the initial PT visit?
Phase 1 Differential Diagnosis- does this patient belong in my clinic?
