Components Of Fitness Flashcards
Agility
The ability to move and change direction at speed while maintaining control
Balance
The ability to maintain your centre of mass over your base of support while static or dynamic
Cardiovascular endurance
The ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to the working muscles
Coordination
The ability to use two or more body parts together smoothly and efficiently
Flexibility
The range of movement possible at a joint
Muscular endurance
The ability of a muscle or muscle group to undergo repeated contractions avoiding fatigue
Power
The product of strength and speed
Reaction time
The time taken to initiate a response to a stimulus
Speed
The maximum rate of which an individual can cover a distance
Maximal strength
The greatest force that is possible in a single maximum contraction
Static strength
Takes place when the muscle length stays the same to stabilise the body
Explosive strength
Strength that comes about when a burst of maximum effort is required
Dynamic strength
Strength used in events over a long period of time
What test test agility?
The Illinois agility test
Give some advantages of the agility test
You need to be able to move quickly and change direction. It is a simple test to administer requiring minimal equipment. Also the players ability to turn in different directions and different angles are tested
Give some disadvantages of the of the agility test
It’s not specific to the agility I need as a keeper and reaction time would be important and it’s preplanned unreliable surface/condition. The test does not distinguish between left and right turning ability. The test often takes longer than 15 seconds at which stage fatigue will begin to play greater apart in the results.
What is the test for coordination?
The Wall toss test
Advantages of the wall toss test
Good practice balance plus hand bike coordination for a Keeper minimal equipment required. Simple to set up and conduct can be conducted almost anywhere.
