Emphasises the fact that individuals have free will and teh ability to shape their own behaviour based on their own experiences. Highlights how an indictable experimeces with their surroundings influence their self concept
According to maslows heirachy of needs elf actualisation is the ultimate goal of self development, and in order to reach this, different experiences are met

Aims to look at an individual as a whole, considering all aspects of their experiences, biological, emotional and social rather than breaking them down
According to maslows heirachy of needs, a persons ultimate goal is to self actualise and in order to do so they must reach a variety of needs first; considering. A range of factors and how they interrelate to promote self growth

Focuses on the belief that individuals gave the ability to make own choices and shape their won lives , participate on their personal growth and development
Humanistic psychologists believe that humans are active agents who can take responsibility for their actions and make choices that affect their self actualisation

Focuses on creating a supportive environment that enables individuals to explore their feelings and thoughts in order to promote self growth
Providing unconditional positive regard, complete acceptance with no judgement allowing the client to feeel safe enough to express their true emotions to get the hep they actually need without the fear of rejection
