Communities And Interdependence Flashcards
What is a population?
A group of individuals of the same species
What is a community?
When several populations of different species across all kingdoms living in a habitat
What is am ecosystem?
Communities interacting with each other, biotic and abiotic
Il what is Interdependence?
When species in a community depends on one another for food, shelter, pollination, seed dispersal and any change can affect lots of different species
What are abiotic and biotic factors for distribution of plants?
Abiotic=moisture levels, temperature, light intensity, Co2, minerals
Biotic=pollen distributors, e.g bees or pollen beetles, new predator, competition, new pathogens
What is a stable community?
When abiotic and biotic factors rarely change and all population numbers are kept roughly constant E.g tropical rainforests
