The EFAS can do the following
Immediately identify member who hits EAB
Manually identify a verbal mayday
Conduct an emergency roll call
Review HT transmission history
EFAS does not replace the use of
Roll Call Procedures
Who is resposible to monitor the EFAS until relieved by a EFAS trained member of the FAST unit
1st arriving battalion firefighter
Once the FAST unit EFAS trained member arrives at the battalion vehicle he is responsible for
Monitoring both the EFAS and the FAST unit HT
The member monitoring the EFAS when communicating on the HT
EFAS to Command
Officers arriving at an incident after they have entered 10-84 must
Key their mic so EFAS enters them into the system
The EFAS program automatically starts up on the MDT screen when the vehicle ignition is turned on. The EFAS window is designed to run behind the Starfire window. The EFAS start up is delayed 1 minute to allow Starfire to connect.
DO NOT attempt to select the EFAS button during this time. Members must wait until Starfire boots up before switching to the EFAS program
EFAS will automatically download the
Spare Radio Database
When the EAB is hit the member who activated it will be highlighted in
RED in both the “radio status” and “mayday”
What else happens when an EAB button is pressed
Hard copy is printed showing company, name, postion and time of Mayday
Once a members mayday is cleared what happens to his name in the 2 areas of the EFAS
Radio Status area goes back to white
Mayday area will change from red to yellow and he will remain in the “maydays” area
Can the EFAS handle multiple Maydays
Yes
Will EMS personnel show up on the EFAS
Yes
Company and Position only
EFAS member will notify IC of this who in turn will notify Medical Group Supervisor
Electronic Roll Calls
Chief or company officer can conduct
Select begin roll call button on top
Who gets contacted 1st in the electronic roll call
