When is a preliminary report needed
Within 5 minutes of arrival
Preliminary report shall include
Existing conditions
Number of companies operating
Status of balance of assignment
Status of all hose lines
being stretched & to what location
hose lines that are operating & location
Any water problems & corrective actions
When 2 engines and 2 ladders or all 1st alarm units are operating or a greater alarm has been transmitted and within _____minutes of the preliminary report a progress report shall be transmitted

Is the ordering of a greater alarm considered a progress report

The transmission of a greater alarm is considered a condition which requires a progress report to describe the situation requiring the additional units
Additional progress reports shall be transmitted every ____minutes for the 1st hour and every _____minutes thereafter

If a report of hose lines is not received during the preliminary report the IC shall update
The status of all hose lines on every progress report until a line is operating on the fire
The IC shall also consider transmitting pertinent information from the progress reports
over the HT network
A progress report is also required when
Significant changes occur or if an additional alarm is transmitted
When are no further progress reports required
under control is transmitted
When can the preliminary report be the final report
Less than 2 engines and 2 ladders are at work and all other units assigned on the alarm are in service
The term DOUBTFUL shall only be used when
On the 1st progress report only
The term doubtful means
Indicates that a fluid and still developing situation exists. Only used on the 1st progress report
Probably will hold means
Indicates that in the judgement of the IC there is enough apparatus, equipment and personal to contain the fire or emergency
Under control means
Indicates that at this time in the judgement of the IC final extinguishment of the fire or control of the emergency will be accomplished by the apparatus, equipment and personnel on the scene
Conditions improving means
Indicates that the fire forces are making headway but that final extinguishment has not been achieved. Use of the term conditions improving requires a description of areas in which fire has been contained
Conditions unchanged means
Indicates that the fire, heat and smoke are the same as in the previous report and the fire force has made little or no advance in extinguishing. THIS TERM SHALL NOT BE USED BY IC IN EARLY RPOGRESS REPORTS.
Light fire situation
Extinguished by 1 hose line or Can
No extinguishing agents needed
Medium fire situation
2 Hand lines
Need Location, Volume and Direction of fire
Precautionary lines
Lines that are stretched and positioned in case something unusual or abnormal occurs
Precautionary lines may be stretched in light and medium fire situations and shall be reported in progress reports
Heavy fire situation
More than 2 hand lines needed or the use of heavy appliances in conjunction with hand lines. When description a heavy fire condition include a quantitative description of the fire: Location, volume and direction of travel
Smoke
It is not mandatory to report smoke conditions. If the volume of smoke is unusual or the smoke condition is presenting a problem to the firefighting force, it should be included
At work
Unit is actively engaged in performance of assigned duties
Standing Fast
Indicates that a unit is held in reserve status intact as a unit at the ICP or Staging area and is immediately available to the IC
The description of exposures
Only needs to be given ONCE. If a revision is necessary or the fire extends and exposes a new property an updated description should be given.
