What is the Conducting Zone?
From nose to respiratory zone; what brings air in and out of the lungs
What is the Respiratory Zone?
Bronchi->bronchioles->terminal bronchioles>alveolar ducts>alveolar sacs; GAS EXCHANGE
Circulation that is high pressure, 1% cardiac output
Bronchiole Circulation; where severe coughed up blood is from
Crackles or Rales
rubbing or popping; on inspiration; NOT cleared by cough; discontinuous
Wheezing
Continuous, musical, high pitched; bilateral; In peds its aspirated toy; In adults its constricted airway
Continuous, horn sound; clears with cough
Rhonchi
most common cause of chronic cough in smokers
Chronic bronchitis; increase in cough intensity can mean cancer
Cough type that is <3 weeks and caused by acute RI
Acute cough
Cough caused by smoking

Cause of chronic dyspnea
Asthma, COPD, ILD, Cardiomyopathy
Sharp pain on inspiration due to inflammation; cause is LRI, PE, or drug RXN
Pleuritis
too much CO2 in blood and not enough O2; also have sleep apnea
