Describe how to fly a Steep Turn.
Must be flown above 3000ft AGL
Set Power to 120kias, set heading bug to entry heading (Make sure to use visual reference), perform 360 degree turn at 50 degrees bank. Airspeed is +/- 10, Altitude +/- 100ft, Bank +/- 5 degrees, Heading +/- 10
What configuration is a steep turn accomplished?
Cruise configuration: Power 22” MP/ 2300 RPM, check engine instruments, Cowls flaps open, L fuel Pump off, R fuel pump off, Landing light off, Recog light on for local, Mixtures leaned.
Describe how to do Slow Flight:
Gear down before landing checklist, full flaps 40(below 111), slow to 60-65 kias, recover with max power, retract flaps slowly to 0, accelerate to 82kias (Vx) maintain altitude or climb, retract gear, accelerate to 88kias.
Airspeed +5/ -0, Altitude +/- 50, Bank +/-5, Heading +/- 10
What are the items in the Gear Down Before Landing Checklist?
Gear down( 3green, no red, one in mirror) keep hand on selector. Fuel Selectors are on Flaps to 25 below 111 Mixtures full fowward Props to full forward Fuel pumps on
Describe how to do a Power Off Stall:
Gear down before landing checklist flaps 40 below 111 establish stablized 400fpm descent at 75 maintain heading slowly reduce power to idle while increasing pitch to induce stall recover by lowering nose and max power retract flaps to 10 slowly accelerate to 82 positive rate climb retract flaps to 0 retract gear and climb 88 Bank +/- 5, Heading +/- 10
Describe how to do a Power On Stall:
Two different types, gear down take off setting, or gear up departure
mixture foward props forward fuel pumps on maintain heading transistion smoothly to 18 degrees pitch up 18" MP power stall reduce angle attack and max power accelerate to 82kias positive rate retract gear if extended 88kias climb
Describe an Accelerated Stall:
Must be down above 4000ft AGL
Flaps up, Gear up Mixtures full forward Props full forward Fuel pumps on Slow to 100Kias Slowly reduce power to idle Establish 45 degree bank turn Maintain altitude until stall
Recover by
Reduce angle of attack, wings level and max power
Describe how to do Vmc Demonstration:
Accomplished at or above 4000ft AGL
Flaps up, Gear up
Mixture full forward
Props full forward
Fuel Pumps on
Slowly close left throttle while maintaining heading and altitude
Slow to 100 Kias
Slowly increase right throttle to full power, use rudder to maintain directional control and bank towards operating engine
increase pitch slowly decrease airspeed at 1 knot per second until full rudder is need to maintain directional control
or loss of directional control
or first sign of stall
Recover by reduce power of operating engine and decrease angle of attack increase power slowly accelerate to 82-88 kias bring both throttle to 20"MP
