A

1948- Br, fr, USA merged zones to become independent. Introduced new currency Deutschmark. Soviets said no so….
USSR shut all land links with West Berlin.
Britain and USA kept West Berlin alive by plane
May 49: Stalin accepted defeat as they had survived winter.
