What was the Cold War?

A

-After ww2, the USA and USSR emerged, forming the superpowers.
- the Cold War was a period of tension and hostility between these two powerful countries. They never actually went to war with one another

    -Churchill said these Soviet Satellite States were behind the iron curtain.

Because he saw that supplies were being maintained and the spirit of West Berlin remained strong

A

1.It showed that the Soviet Union was willing to raise tensions, but not willing to go to war with the west.
2. Germany was split into 2, west and east Germany.
3. The USA and Canada and other European countries formed NATO.
4. USA felt they won their first victory in war.
