What are Vitamins ?
A
• Organic compounds essential for metabolic reactions
• Needed in small amounts

What are the 2 groups of Vitamins ?
A
• Fat soluble (Vit A, D, E, and K) – if these build up in the body, they can become toxic)
•Water soluble (Vit B and C) – if too many are taken in, they are excreted in the urine)

A
In yellow veggies, fish oil and egg yolk. DD=night-blindness

brown rice, whole grain bread and yeast. DD=beri-beri

Citrus fruit, tomatoes and leafy greens. DD= Scurvy

Egg yolk, oily fish and milk. DD= rickets
