Baddeley 1966
The influence of acoustic and semantic similarity on long- term memory for word saquences
Aim of Baddley 1966
To investigate the influence of acoustic and semantic word similarity on learning and recall in short term and long term memory
Sample of baddley
72 men and women from the applied psychology unit subject panel Cambridge university
Procedure if baddley
Four word lists -
A- acoustically similar
Acoustically disimilar
Semantically similar
Semantiacally dismilaf
15 participants in condition a 20 in condition b 16 in condition c 21 in conduction d
For each condition 10 words presented for 3 seconds
Then task involving stm 6 sequences 8 did its 8 seconds to write out
Then 1 min to write out 10 digit sequence
Did 3x
Then inference task 15 min copying 8 digit sequences
Testing LTM at tamper to re word list in order - surprise as it was not just remembering but the sequence
