Cognition: Token Economies (Modifying Behaviour) Flashcards
1
Q
Token Economies
A
A form of modification of behaviour based on operant conditioning.
An artificial system of reward and reinforcement in order to continue desired behaviour, where individuals earn tokens (or lose them) for appropriate behaviours. They can then be exchanges for more tangible secondary reinforcers.
2
Q
Shaping
A
Often involves some sort of shaping procedures used by Skinner to get animals to perform tricks
3
Q
Steps
A
- Establish desired behaviour
- Back-up reinforcers
- A system of recording data (visual and visible)
- Consistent implementation
