Cognition Flashcards
1
Q
Label the structure of the eye in order:
A
1: Cornea
2: Pupil
3: Iris
4: Ciliary muscles
5: Lens
6: Vitreus humour
7: Retina
8: Optic nerve
2
Q
Cornea:
A
- protects the eye
- helps light enter the retina
3
Q
Pupil:
A
- helps control the amount of light entering the eye
- opening in the iris
4
Q
Iris:
A
- controls the amount of light entering the eye
- contains a ring of muscles which helps control the size of the eye
5
Q
Ciliary muscles:
A
- located either side of the lens
- expands and contracts muscles
- allows lens to change shape
6
Q
Retina:
A
- receives and absorbs light
- connects to brain by optic nerve
7
Q
Optic nerve:
A
- transfers visual information from the retina to the visual cortex
8
Q
Lens:
A
- focuses light onto the retina
- adjusts shape depending on the distance of the object being viewed
9
Q
Vitreus humour:
A
- gel-like substance
- occupies space between lens and retina
