What is coeliac disease
This is a condition that occurs when the body reacts to a protein called ‘GLUTEN
Where is gluten found
In cereals such as wheat and barley
What happens the body cannot tolerate gluten
This means that the villi in the small intestine are not formed properly.
What happens when the villi are not formed properly
The individual will not be able to absorb nutrients properly.

Wheat,barley(oats+rye)

Foods which are made up of a combination of ingredients

Nausea
Tiredness/constipation
Reduced growth in children
How do you manage coeliac disease
-Remove gluten from diet completely
- Take care when making food choices
- check labels and menus carefully
