What’s research on duration on STM
Tested 24 students in eight trials each. On each trial the student was given consonants syllables .Also given a 3 digit number. Students counted backward to prevent any mental rehearsal of consonants syllables ( which would increase the duration time of STM). On each trial told to stop after varying periods of time 3 6 9 12 15 or 18 sec. 3 seconds average recall was 80% 18 seconds avg recall 3%

Free recall test
Participants tested within 15 years of graduation were 90% accurate in photo recognition
Free recall was less accurate than recognition
Shows LTM may last up to lifetime for some material
