What is T1D broadly?
A
an autoimmune disease- destruction of insulin - producing pancreatic beta cells via auto-antibodies

what are at risk individuals often triggered by?
A
viruses, environmental/ dietary factors and/ or other stressors

How is T1D diagnosed?
A
diagnosed due to hyperglycaemic and hypoglycaemic episodes, impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, or a high HbA1C result and presence of pancreatic autoantibodies in the blood

what does success management include?
A
requires multiple daily insulin injections, insulin pump therapy, or the use of an automated insulin delivery system, as well as glucose monitoring
