5.3 Subcontractual Relations

SECTION 07 89 50 - WIDGETS

I. furnished and installed complete and ready for use, including cleaning. Installation should be per manufacturer’s standard details by installers who shall be approved by the manufacturer and shall have been in the business of installing widgets for at least five years. There are two types, as noted.

Shop Drawings: Show construction, kind and thicknesses of metal, hardware, accessories, and standard product data or illustrated cut sheets. Provide mockups of both types at the jobsite.

II. Materials: Shall conform to the following requirements:
Brass: One piece, extruded, polished finish.
Stainless Steel Sheet: Cold rolled, stretcher leveled, ASTM A123.
Galvanized Steel Frames: ASTM A36, galvanized.
Glass: Polished plate glass, ASTM C1036, Type 1, 1/4” thick.
Fittings: Manufacturer’s standard.
Finishes: Stainless steel - bright No. 7 polish. Brass - bright polished finish on all exposed surfaces. Steel sides and backs, baked on coat of rust-inhibitive primer paint.
III. Installation:
Type 1: Frames made of steel with stainless finish as specified, each side in one piece, accurately mitered corners to a hairline fit, surface in a true plane and fitted together at corners with mitered brackets. Set glass in frames per industry standard before mounting on the walls.

Type 2: Face frame in one piece with no joints; brass with polished finish, not less than .125” thick, mitered or welded at corners; all welds and soldered joints buffed and polished smooth on exposed surfaces.

III. Measurement and Payment: Quantities of widgets shall be measured for each unit installed. The contract price paid shall include full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals and for doing all the work involved in installing the work as shown on the plans and as specified in these specifications. Include an alternate bid to supply all widgets of brass instead of base bid stainless steel.
Before final payment, the Contractor shall guarantee all widgets to be free of defects for one year.
