Classification Flashcards
What does a specialized animal cell contain?
Cell wall, plasma membrane, large permeable vacuole, chloroplast, smooth endoplasmic reticulum, nuclear membrane, nucleus, nucleolus, rough endoplasmic reticulum with ribosomes, starch grain, cytoplasm and mitochondrion,
What is a cell membrane?
It is also called the plasma membrane with thin layer of fat and protein molecules. It controls what enters and leaves the cell.
What do plant cells contain that animal cells don’t?
Cell walls and cellulose, chloroplasts, starch granules, large permanent vacuoles and a rigid shape due to cell wall.
What do animal cells not contain that plant cells have?
No cell walls or cellulose, no chloroplasts, glycogen granules, vacuoles if present that are small and temporary and shape not rigid.
What are nerve cells?
Long cells that enable communication with distant body parts.
What are dilated cells?
They are cells that move bacteria and dust away from the lungs. They have cilia on top of them and are rectangular shaped.
What are root hair cells?
They absorb minerals and water from the soil.
