Classical Conditioning (4A) Flashcards
What does learning mean?
The process of acquiring knowledge, skills or behaviour through experience.
What types of stimulus are in the ‘before conditioning’ phase?
Neutral stimulus
Unconditioned stimulus
Unconditioned response
What is the neutral stimulus?
Before conditioning
During conditioning
After conditioning
It produces no significant response prior to conditioned.
For example, a bell ringing.
It is then paired with the unconditioned stimulus by showing them half a second apart.
The neutral stimulus then becomes the conditioned stimulus that produces the conditioned response.
What is the unconditioned stimulus?
Before conditioning
During conditioning
After conditioning
It produces a natural unconcious response.
For example a dog seeing food.
It is the paired with the neutral stimulus by showing them half a second apart.
What is the unconditioned response?
Before conditioning
During conditioning
After conditioning
The naturally occurring behaviour in response to a stimulus.
For example a dog salivating for the food.
What is the conditioned response?
The unconditioned response that occurs to the neutral stimulus that has now become the conditioned stimulus.
