classical conditioning Flashcards
what is classical conditioning
learning through association
who discovered it and how
pavlov - conditioned dogs to salivate to the sound of a bell
what is food
unconditional stimulus
what is salivation initially
unconditioned response towards food (ucs)
what is the bell and what does this produce
neutral stimulus producing no response
when the bell and food is paired together what does this produce
uncondtioned response - salivation
through a_ the dog learns to s- when seeing a b- due to
through association the dog learns to salivate when it hears a bell due it being repeatedly paired with the food even when the food is not with it
afterwards the bell is -
and salivation is -
bell is conditioned response
salivation is uncondtioned response
what is acquisition
learning the association of when the NS and the UCS are paired together strenghtening the likelihood of the CR
what is extinction
when the CR stops because the CS hasn’t been presented with the UCS for a while
briefly decribe little albert
little albert experiment is when albert the baby was presented with white things which he wasnt scared of - these were neutral stimuluses
after these items were presented to him again - he liked the white rat and everytime now it was presented there would be a loud bang
albert was conditioned to become scared of the items - conditioned response
