Because Abraham was an abolitionist so if he was president he could take slavery away and, as we know, slavery is very important to the South since it helps them make money

A

He was a slave who was moved from a slave state to a free state and then back to the slave one. The owner of Scott dies which means Scott and his family is free. Irene, the wife of the slave owner, refused so Scott sued b/c he was free
