- The first female feminist in North America
- A woman in Boston who questioned the Puritan teachings
- She was put on trial and expelled from Massachusetts for this
- She went on to settle Rhode Island where they practiced religious toleration

What are the New England colonies?
Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine
What is New England’s climate?
- Winters were long and cold/snowy
-Summers are short and warm - This helped people catch fewer diseases

- Made up of hills and low mountains
- Rock soil making it hard to plant crops

- Fish and seafood
- Wood to make boats/ships
- They were exposed to more waters making it good for fishing

- Puritan faith
- Not very tolerant in other religions
- Persecuted anyone who questioned the faith

- Warm summers
- Short winters
