They encourage public participation in government and place checks and balances on the government allowing citizens to express their concerns and preferences
Interest groups can also serve as a platform for resolving or priming global conflicts

the features of social organizations such as networks, norms, and social trust facilitate coordination and cooperation for mutual benefit

An Argentine human rights organization formed by mothers whose children were forcibly disappeared during the military dictatorship
