What is the hearts job? (See packet also)
There is a right and left (opposite on paper) separated by septum.
Upper chambers are atrium receiving chambers.
Lower chambers are ventricles that act as pumps.
PACEMAKER: group of nerve cells in the atrium that tells the heart to contract, in breathing.
VALVES: separate atrium and prevent backflow of blood.
What is the job of blood vessels? Arteries, veins, capillaries.
ARTERIES: carry blood away from heart. Thick walls because of pulsing new blood!!!!
VEINS: carry blood to heart, thinner walls and valves.
CAPILLARIES: tiny blood vessels surrounding alveolis allowing exchange of 02, C02, food and waste. Exchange with CELLS
What is the job of blood, red and white cells?
It is the circulatory’s connective tissue made up of plasma, cells, and platelets.
Function: supply oxygen and nutrients to tissues and remove wastes.
Red blood cells: carry oxygen to cells.
White blood cells: immune cells to destroy invaders.
What’s blood pressure?
A measure of the force of blood on walls of arteries.
