Q

State how you would go about positioning for a rejoin from the climb upwind.

A

Position wide downwind and remain at 1000ft QFE.

They are not to be made with the intention to land unless in an emergency.

Flapless approaches to Rwy 01 should be terminated at high approaches not below 150ft QFE.

Flapless approaches at night prohibited unless in an emergency.

Specifically for Hawk:
Max Fuel 500kg (+200kg for every 10kts of headwind).
Minimum LDA: 5000ft
X-wind < 25kts (chute limit)
If doing a T&G, power must be applied by 3000ft to go.

24
Q

What is the usual height of rotary traffic operating on the Golf Course?

A

250ft

25
Q

What will ATC do if Golf Course traffic extends above 250ft?

A

Restrict ccts and breaks to 1000ft.

26
Q

What should you do if there is likely to be a near/ direct overflight of a train on approach to Rwy 19?

A

Go around.

27
Q

Why should you not fly a shallow approach to Rwy 01?

A

You may hit the sand dunes in the undershoot.

28
Q

What positions will ATC inform cct traffic of incoming instrument traffic?

A

8nm and 3nm.

29
Q

When will instrument traffic be given final clearance by ATC?

A

By 2nm out.

30
Q

State the cct traffic priorities in descending order.

A
Aircraft with an emergency.
Aircraft recovering with "Min Fuel".
Flight Checking Aircraft
Instrument Traffic
SIA aircraft.
Departures
Visual Cct Traffic
PFLs
PEFATOs.
31
Q

What will happen to all cct traffic whilst a departure takes place on the out-of-use runway?

A

Cct traffic will be held at cct height by ATC.

32
Q

What will ATC instruct Cct traffic to do whilst a recovery to the out of use runway takes place?

What should happen if weather prevents this?

A

Climb to above 1500ft.

If this is not possible due to cloud base, the recovery should be via an SIA or instrument recovery.

33
Q

What height should an aircraft requiring a gear inspection overfly the inspection lights?

A

200ft.

34
Q

What is the procedure for overflying the gear inspection lights if Rwy 31/13 is in use?

A

Fly a normal or LL cct to overfly the lights at 200ft.

35
Q

What is the procedure for overflying the gear inspection lights if Rwy 01/19 is in use?

A

ATC will climb all other cct traffic to 1500ft QFE.

Then fly a normal or LL cct to Rwy 31/13 to overfly the lights at 200ft.

36
Q

When should a request to practice a gear-up approach be requested by ATC?

A

On the ground before briefing, so it can be planned and briefed by the crew.

37
Q

What type of approach should be made when conducting a practice wheels up approach?

A

Only from a visual cct to a high or low approach.

38
Q

Are ATC instructions inside the MATZ mandatory?

A

Yes.

39
Q

What is the limit on the number of aircraft cleared by ATC to land?

A

No limit as long as safe separation limits are adhered to.

40
Q

What is the safe separation required to land behind a civilian aircraft, or an aircraft bigger than a C130?

A

Trick question - these aircraft should have exclusive use of the runway.

41
Q

How much runway separation is required behind an aircraft of similar or faster type if both aircraft are landing?

A

3000ft at point of touchdown.

42
Q

How much runway separation is required behind a Texan if both aircraft are landing?

A

5000ft at point of touchdown.

43
Q

How much runway separation is required behind an aircraft of similar or faster type if the first aircraft is doing a T&G, and the second aircraft is landing?

What phase of the T&G must the first aircraft be in?

A

3000ft.

The first aircraft must have begun the acceleration phase of the T&G.

44
Q

How much runway separations is required behind a Hawk T2 that intends to stream a chute when the second aircraft is landing?

A

4500ft.

45
Q

With regard to runway occupancy, when will clearance for a touch and go be given?

A

When the runway is clear of all aircraft and vehicles.

46
Q

With regard to runway occupancy, when will clearance for a low approach be given?

A

When the runway is clear of all aircraft and vehicles.

47
Q

What height should a High Approach not go below?

A

150ft.

48
Q

Can clearance for a high approach be given with the runway occupied?

A

Yes.

49
Q

What should ATC tell an aircraft requesting a high approach if rotary traffic is crossing the runway?

A

“Go around.”

50
Q

If told to “continue” the final turn, what height should you not go below if you receive no other instructions?

A

150ft.

51
Q

If told to “Line Up and Wait in turn”, what do you need to wait for before lining up?

A

For the aircraft ahead to vacate the threshold.

52
Q

What should you do if told to “go around” in the cct.

A

Immediately discontinue approach, climb to 1000ft QFE and turn onto the deadside.

53
Q

How long should you plan for a runway change to take?

A

15 minutes in the day.

20 minutes at night.

54
Q

What should you do if you don’t have the fuel to wait for a runway change to occur?

A

Divert.

55
Q

Where is Point Bravo?

A

055R/30DME

56
Q

Describe a point bravo departure for each runway.
