- inhibits enzyme bacterial DNA gyrase (primarily active in gram negative bacteria)
- in gram positive it inhibits topoisomerase IV
- bactericidal action

- UTI
- gonorrhea
- chancroid
- bacterial gastroenteritis (shigella, salmonella, c. jejuni)
- typhoid
- meningitis
- bone , soft tissue, gynecological and wound infection
- atypical pneumonia

- n/v, bad taste, anorexia- dizziness, headache, anxiety, insomnia, impaired concentration
- rah, photosensitivity, pruritus
- tendinitis, tendon rupture
