What is framing?
Describes how producers of a text frame a shot
Shot type + camera position included in this
What are the basic types of shots?
Close up (CS), medium shot (MS) and long shot (LS)
Can all be modified to makes incremental changes in shot
What are the types of shots named for their function?
Point of view shot, two- shot, and an over-the-shoulder shot
What is an establishing shot?
Opening shot of a film/sequence
What is a two-shot?
Shot that has more than 2 ppl in it
What is a point-of-view shot?
Makes us feel like we are seeing events unfold in someone elses eyes
What is an over-the-shoulder shot?
Gives a sense of participation in a convo
What are all of the camera angles/shots used?
Eye level camera shot, high angle, low angle, canted angle
Worms-eye view, birds-eye view, aerial, crane, and jib shots
What are the purposes of eye level, high, and low camera angles?
Eye level = sense of equality
High = Makes subject feel small/inferior
Low = Elevates the subject
What are canted angles common in?
Music videos. They’re edgy + disorientating
What is the difference between a worms-eye view shot + a birds-eye view shot?
Worms-eye = View of scene from below
Birds-eye = Elevated view from above
What is an aerial shot?
Camera angles/movements from high altitudes (e.g. drones)
What is a crane shot?
Shot taken by a crane/jib
What is a jib shot?
Camera mounted on 1 and of crane + counterweight added on other side
