Varicose Veins - Clinical Presentation
A
Aching Heaviness and tension Feeling of swelling Restless legs Nocturnal cramps Itching that is worse when standing Elongated, tortusous, dilated and sacculated veins

Venous Ulceration
A
Majority in medial/gaiter area
Irregular, with neoepithelium (whiter than mature skin)
Base is pink and granulating but may be sloughy

Investigations
A
Duplex US - identifies the sites of reflux and obstruction

Management
A
Compression hoisery
Surgical - ligation of vein, sclerotherapy, endovenous laser therapy
Wound care
