Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Flashcards
Adults, kids, or both?
Adults ONLY
4 things you must know!
Small, MATURE lymphocytes
same as SLL (small lymphocytic lymphoma)
B-cell, but CD5+ (weird, usually a T-cell marker)
Long but inexorable course
Clinical findings in CLL?
age > 40
asymptomatic at first
later, organ infiltration
Cell markers that will be positive in CLL?
B-cell antigens (ie. CD19, 20, 21)
CD5+ !!!!!!
Negative marker to differentiate from lymphoblastic?
no TdT in CLL
lab findings in CLL?
increased WBC
Hypogammaglobulinemia
genetic mutation associated with CLL:
bcl-2
What dose a mutated bcl-2 do?
makes cells immortal
Splenomegaly withOUT lymphadenopathy
Pancytopenia
TRAP+
Hairy Cell Leukemia
**obviously have hairy cells present too
Male:Female prevalence in HCL?
5:1 — significantly more males
Surface markers present in HCL?
HCL negative for?
**this is on the test probably
+B-cell antigens
+CD25
+CD11c
**NO CD5
Lab finding ALWAYS present in HCL?
Monocytopenia
4 things you must know about Prolymphocytic Leukemia:
Prolymphocytes
Splenomegaly withOUT lymphadenopathy
Rare
Aggressive
Lab findings in Prolymphocytic Leukemia:
Increased WBC
decreased Hgb
decerased Plts
Four things you must know about Large Granulated Lymphocyte Leukemia:
Large granulated lymphocytes
T-cell
Neutropenia
Long survival
