- This is written in the bible (Genesis)
- The bible says that it took six days to create the universe and God rested on the seventh
What are two views on creation?
- Creationist: They believe that events unfolded exactly as it was written
- Some others believe that it may not be scientifically true, but that god caused it by his choice

- God the Father is seen as the Creator
- The Gospel of John describes the Son of God as ‘the Word’
- The world was created by God acting through the Holy Spirit:
In the bible it says:
‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God’
‘The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light’
What is ‘The word’?

Christian beliefs about the creation of Humans?
- Christians believe that humans were created on the sixth day of creation
- The first two humans were Adam and Eve and they lived in the Garden of Eden
- They were made in the image of god
- Christians believe that Adam and Eve disobeyed God and that this led to evil and suffering entering the world

- The tendency towards sin, innate in all human beings
- It was inherited from Adam and Eve after the Fall
Describe the stages of Fall, original sin and redemption
1) God creates man in his image
2) The original sin
3) We have original sin so can’t enter heaven
4) Jesus sacrifices himself to redeem us
5) Baptism washes away original sin
6) As we don’t have original sin, we can enter heaven
What are the two types of sin?
- Mortal = Most serious, deadly sins leading to hell
- Venial = Less serious sins
