Briefly explain Martin Luther’s 3 main beliefs regarding Christianity?

A
  1. Absolute Authority of the Bible
    * everyone must read it for his/herself and make their own decisions
    * the Bible was the final authority, not the Pope (Our Belief) - the Pope and priests interpret the Bible for us)
  2. Justification by Faith Alone
    * our actions have nothing to do with our salvation
    * God gives grace to all who have faith - even the undeserving
    * (Our Belief- it is our faith and actions that earn us salvation)
  3. Priesthood of All Believers
    * all humans have the same status under God and have the same responsibility to pray and study under Him
    * (Our belief)- priests are empowered by God to teach us)
