Colchicine
It aborts gout attacks and decreases the incidences of it.

What is allopurinol used for?
A
To inhibit uric acid production, thus treating hyperuricemia. Hyperuricemia that’s typically due to chronic gout.

What is probenecid used for?
A
Used to inhibit uric acid that’s reabsorped by renal tubules.
Adverse effect is renal calculi.

What are adverse effects of colchicine?
A
- Mild GI distress
- Thrombocytopenia
- Sudden onset of muscle pain
Grapefruit juice may increase adverse effects

Why is epinephrine used with lidocaine?
