What is the controlled substance act of 1970?
The controlled substance act placed drugs into Schedules 1- 5. Schedule 1 has no accepted medical use in the U.S. Schedules 2- 5 have potential for abuse.
New drugs: RTC
- Control use

- Blinding- Subject doesn’t know which they will be receiving

Longer complicated names ( acetaminophen)
What are trade names?
Name the company gives them ( brand)
A single drug can have multiple trade names
- Product with the same trade name could have different active ingredients

- U.S drugs and drugs outside the U.S may have different active ingredients

- Chemical : aminophenol
- Generic: acetaminophen
