Inhibits peptidly transferase enzyme so stops bacteria being made

What are the side effects of chloramphenicol ?
A
- Allergy
- Aplastic anaemia (deficiency of all 3 blood cell types)
- Grey baby syndrome

What do you need to be careful about when giving steroids to treat keratitis ?
A
That you know its autoimmune cause rather the herpes as it can cause a corneal melt/perforation of the cornea

Inhibit cell wall synthesis through B lactam ==> kill bacteria

Inhibit nucleic acid synthesis by inhibiting DNA gyrase ==> cell death
