Q

What is the life cycle of chlamydia?

A

1) At 0 hours:The extracellular infectious bacteria is ingested and attached to cell which reduces MOMP
2) At 9 hours:DNA reorganize; RNA synthesis and protein synthesis occurs
3) At 18 hours: Binary fission of RBs; chlamydia antigen is released from cell surface
3) At 20 hours: Fusion of inclusion; appearance of initial bodies
4) At 24 hours: DNA condensation within RB to form EBs; S-S bridging MOMP
5) At 40 hours: Infectivity increases with EB production
6) After 40 hours: Release
