Colostrum is the thick nutrient-rich milk that is given to the baby during the first breast feedings.

Doctors are somtimes able to use medications to stop premature labor, many times the mother will be put on bed rest to help keep the labor from starting again.

What signs can you look for to see if labor is false?
During false labor contractions are usually irregular and do not follow a rhythm
What signs should you look for to determine when labor has began?
The bloody show, the amniotic sac is broken, contractions are regular and increase in strength
Why is it important to monitor the baby during labor?
To make sure the baby is not under stress
What is postpartum depression and what causes it?
Postpartum depression is a depression that some mothers experience after the birth of their baby. It is characterized by feeling very sad or overly anxious. Some mothers feel a lack of interest in their new baby. It is caused by the many physical and emotional changes that occur right after the labor and delivery.
What is a NICU?
NICU stands for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This is where they keep babies that need special care. Most premature babies will spend time the in the NICU.
